| "A Foot In The Door" (Comedy) by Richard Harris - Directed by Don Hobbs |
Sweet old lady May Archer, much dependent on her treasured TV for company, is the central figure in this situation comedy with laugh lines coming thick and fast. The supporting cast is made up of 5 cleverly drawn characters, each intent on making a sale in his/her diverse business enterprise. In other words “getting a foot in the door” is the main objective of the day’s visit. But with each promoting a completely different product this is not as achievable as they have expected with this “soft touch”. They find themselves not only competing against each other but also the ever-present TV. “Let’s sit down and have a nice cuppa” is always May’s solution when sticky situations arise! And arise they do!

"Don't Utter A Note" A comedy by Anton Delmar.
Two loveable old “lavender and lace” sisters inherit a small cottage and discover a bundle of notes under the floor boards. Highly delighted, they donate it all to their favourite charities only to discover the notes are forgeries. However, with the help of an ex-convict protégé and an ancient printing press, they are able to run off just a few more for such worthy causes … and then just a few more … but fate takes a hand in an unusual twist.
This delightful play was cast by the BBC with talents such as Sid James, Peter Bowles and Sybil Thorndyke in the 1960’s. Nevertheless, it stands the test of time as you will agree in this rehearsed, costumed and fully staged play-reading, with St Luke’s experienced actors as well as some of our newcomers.
